If you have a wire poking your cheek or a loose bracket you can place wax on the end of the wire or on the loose bracket. If your bracket causes a sore on your gums or cheeks you can also place wax on the bracket until the area has time to heal.
Although Orthodontic emergencies are rare here are some solutions to help until you can come into the office.
Metal tie or wire poking your gums
If you have a metal tie or wire poking your gums you can use the end of an eraser to help push the wire so it is no longer poking.
Wire that brakes from the bracket
If you have a wire that brakes from the bracket, you can use nail clippers to clip the wire close to the bracket.
Wire that comes out of the back tube
If you have a wire that comes out of the back tube you can use tweezers to help, put in back into the tube.
REMINDER: If you have a broken bracket or appliance to keep it and bring it to your next appointment. If you ever need wax there is always some available in our mailbox at the front door.
